So now that you have a brand new Hoverboard it’s important to learn how to care for and maintain it. Like everything in life the more you care and look after something the longer service it will give you.

To help you get the very best out of your Hoverboard, we have put together this article with four tops tips on how to maintain your Hoverboard.

How to maintain your Hoverboard Battery

Just like any item that uses a battery, the more care you take care of it the better.

The battery in your Hoverboard is a Samsung or LG lithium-ion and will be of the highest quality available. We recommend using and recharging the battery fully every time so you can ensure that the battery is well maintained. We do not recommend over-charging or under-charging your battery as this will reduce the health and longevity of the long-term battery life.

Please don’t leave the battery charging overnight!

We do not recommend that you charge the battery overnight. If you have purchased a cheap Hoverboard from eBay or Amazon, then the likelihood is that your Hoverboard is not very safe. Therefore, such instances where some Swegways don’t have a cut-off device when fully charged will continue to take in a surge of electricity. It is due to this that Hoverboards have had some bad press over the last few years.

If you have purchase one of our Premium Hoverboards for sale, then you’re in luck. Our Hoverboards have a cut-off device when in full charge. However, we still do not recommend charging the device overnight. Although this won’t put you at any health or safety risks, it will deplete the battery. The reason being is that rechargeable batteries will deplete if left overnight, toggling the charger to charge the battery at full capacity again. This over time will reduce the longevity of your batteries.

Hoverboards & Speed

Your Hoverboard Swegway can travel at speeds of around 10-12 mph, depending on the conditions. However, just because something can go at a certain speed, does not mean that you need to.

We do not recommend that you attempt to ride your Swegway or Hoverboard at the maximum speed, especially if you are not riding on a perfectly flat surface.

If you are really desperate to try a faster speed then please make sure you practice to a higher level where you can confidently ride with complete stability and control. Also, remember that the faster you choose to ride the more chance there is that you will damage the Swegway.

Hoverboards & Water

Your Hoverboard should not be exposed to water. Do not ride your device through puddles, around water or in heavy rain. This will definitely not help you towards the maintenance of your board.

Try to keep it as dry as you can!

Riding Safely

Safely riding the Hoverboard is an absolute must.

As a general rule, be sensible on your board and don’t do any tricks if you are not in full control. Riding a Swegway or Hoverboard is like riding any other motorised transport; it can be dangerous. This is especially if the user is not in full control or unbalanced and clumsy.

Whilst learning to ride the Hoverboard, please make sure that you remain on flat, even ground and wear protective gear such as a helmet, knee pads and elbow pads.

Furthermore, please remember that Swegways and Hoverboards are designed to be a toy so should be used for fun and entertainment, not to be used as regular transportation or for any long distances.

Please make sure you:

• Don’t ride with more than one person on the Hoverboard
• Check your weight including any items being carried. Do not exceed the allowable limits
• Don’t use your mobile phone while riding the Swegway
• Avoid driving the Hoverboard in narrow spaces
• Do not ride on steep slopes
• Ride with care
